Buying fake awards and promoting yourself as “award winning” is unethical and deceptive to your clients, staff and the entire business community, especially if you know it is a scam, or have a nagging suspicion.
If you are required to pay money for an award — such as marketing expenses, use of logo, print advertising, social media announcements, trophy costs, listing costs, etc. — then it is fraudulent.
If you are nominated by a “selection committee” and didn’t know about the nomination, this means you are a target of a fraudulent award scam designed to get money out of you.
